Protective Styling 101_Natural Hair pt.1 (LOL FUNNY)

My Afro two days before....
So its the summer, and yes my fro cant not stand up with these hot summer days...before I get a block the back of my hair is already doing this funky thing that I really cant stand....SHRINKAGE (Yes I am a Length Whore, and proud of it. No, I don't let it affect the grooming and health of my hair at times lol).

So deciding that I need to do something about this, and that I hate having to wash and twist my hair every night (which I wouldnt suggest anyone do, the strain it puts on your hair is very evident :/ ) just so I can look like a civilized human being and not a barbaric....DRUM ROLL, PLEASE.......Mini-Twist, using extensions. So I have friend who I wanted to do it, but seeing she is working full time (& my problem is full time). I took a deep breath and said "YOU CAN DO IT, YOU CAN DO IT".

As I walked to the beauty supply store to pick up the hair, my heart raced and my palm was sweaty...all I continued to think to myself was please please don't waste your money or your time... You better get this right or else...you will walk around with SHRINKAGE for the rest of the summer. And you know us Length Whores Cant stand that word its our KRYPTONITE (yes we get weak, loose all our power lol)...

Well after co-washing my hair (because I washed it earlier on in the week) , and blow drying my hair so that it can be stretched (if you don't use heat there are a ton of other ways to stretch your hair)....then I parted it into sections which is always easier to work with, and seems to take less time then just twisting all over..also when its time to take out the possibility of extremely tangled hair is to a minimum. If you don't know the first thing about twisting check out Naptural85's video, it helped me out alot... Products used were eco-style olive oil gel, soft-sheen carson's roots of nature feathered whipped curling cream....Here are my results (dont mind the quality of the pics, I didnt know I wanted to take them until I started and it was too late to charge the batteries for my camera...so they are mobile images)

I know I look a litte crazy lol...but this is my hair blowout .

My first twist took me about 2 mins....after moisturizing, spritizing
and twisting the weave into it. I got tired really fast....

Day 1- 16 hrs later....tired as I dont know what....

Day 3- At church waiting for service to begin

Trying to show the dress, that a new designer made....not a good image

Day 5- Pinned up, twist are starting to slip out in the back =(
Its ok because I decided to take it out anyway so I can wear my  hair out for  my interview on friday...

Well I hope my misfortune has helped show you what to do as well as what not to do.....

Until Next time.....Staying Fashionably Chic
